Last week, we talked about meeting people where they are, not where you want them to be. That’s essential. But now, you’ve got to get surrounded. You’ve got to have the confidence that you can immerse yourself in the culture, the environment of wherever you are, and find very relevant, appropriate solutions for moving people to action from the inside out.
In this week’s vlog we learn how countless American and Panamanian lives were saved on Christmas Day 1989 by a Green Beret’s willingness to get surrounded on purpose. Not a single shot was fired in operation “Ma Bell” because of the three principles of ‘Getting Surrounded.’
These three principles are just as relevant in your life, in your business. This is how we move people to action when trust is low and stakes are high.
Three things about getting surrounded that I want you to think about:
One is bottom up. Think bottom up. Think inside out. Get on the community level.
The second thing I’d like you to think about after bottom up is that timing is everything.
The third component of it is to go local. That means getting out there and walking the floor, talking to people. It means your mom was right. Two ears, one mouth. Active listening.
‘Game Changers: The Citizen’s Guide’ is here and the very principles I talked about today of getting surrounded is what we’re going to have to demand of citizens in the next election. Get your copy of Game Changers on Amazon and share it across all of your platforms. Share it with your tribes.
Thanks for what you do, and I can’t wait to see you on the rooftop.
