Know thy enemy.
I’m talking about one enemy in particular today, an enemy I call ‘the churn’.
I talk a lot about trust-erosion in our society and something I hear almost daily is, “what’s happened to trust in our world?”
So, what’s happened to trust today? Look at your own world, your own life. Turn on the news for 15 seconds. What do you see? You see churn. Go to work and look at how people treat each other. Look at the little groups that form. That’s churn. Look at how people treat each other while driving down the street, at the conflict you see in everyday life. Look at how our kids treat each other on the bus. It’s pretty rough. That’s churn. Look at any kind of political conversation today, whether it’s gun control, whether it’s race, whether it’s taxes. There’s almost no substantive conversation. It’s all churn. It’s all emotional tension and conflict that’s just spinning. That is the world that we live in today.
In this week’s video blog, we’re going to learn to identify the churn and get into ways that you can lead responsibly and pragmatically, bridge the gaps, and even thrive in low-trust, high-conflict situations.
Look around you and let me know where you’re seeing the churn pop up in your life.
I’ll see you on the Rooftop….
